What does sustainable living mean to me?

What does sustainable living mean to me?

For me, it means LIFE ❤️

I strongly believe that without our health we have nothing and without the health of our planet we also have nothing, we don’t have a place to live.

I started my sustainable living journey 3 years ago when I read an article by Sarah Wilson saying that takeaway coffee cups aren't recyclable, I remember thinking that's not true, they must be recyclable as we are led to believe that they are?!?!

I then started researching and that started my journey into replacing single use plastic items, I started with the Big 4 - Takeaway Coffee Cups, Plastic Water Bottles, Plastic Straws and Plastic Bags. The more I researched and followed people on social media, the more I realised it was way more than just the Big 4!

I started an Instagram page with my then 8 year old Son and we started a campaign called Strawless March where we asked cafes to not use plastic straws for the month of March (and beyond), and I’m very happy to say that some of them still don’t use plastic straws 3 years on!

Over 2.5 years ago I purchased a product that enables me to replace around 30 products in my home which means I’m not buying plastic bottles and packaging, can you imagine how happy that makes me! VERY!

That product was the beginning of my low-tox journey.

WHY DO I DO IT?

Because it's inherently me, I used to wonder why I didn’t buy things, I thought maybe I’m a tight ass with money  I knew I wasn’t as I’m actually very generous. Every time I thought about buying something, I would ask myself, do I really need it? Can I use something else instead?

Because without our health we have nothing and without the health of our planet we also have nothing, we don’t have a place to live.

Because my children need me to.

I'd love to know what sustainable living means to you?
