Is there a best time to drink water?

I talk often about how fundamental water is for our health and for our survival.

Every cell, organ and tissue requires water to function, if we don't drink water then they can't function like they need to and this leads to health issues, both small and big.

It's obvious that water is vital for us to drink water, however is there a best time to drink it?

Research shows that there is and you can absorb more of water’s health benefits by drinking it at optimal times throughout the day.

Of course we need water at other times also, so don't forget to keep sipping through the day 💧

Here’s the best times of day to drink water in order to absorb more of water’s health benefits.

FIRST THING WHEN YOU WAKE UP

Your first glass of water should be first thing when you wake up. Drink one glass of water after waking to help activate your organs.

Have you heard about Japanese water therapy?

It involves drinking room temperature or warm water on an empty stomach after waking to cleanse the digestive system and regulate gut health, which according to proponents can heal a variety of conditions.

BEFORE A MEAL

Drink one glass of water 30 minutes before a meal to help digestion. Remember not to drink too soon before, during or after a meal as the water will dilute the digestive juices.

AFTER A MEAL

Drink one glass 30 minutes after eating a meal, if you drink too soon the water will dilute the digestive juices.

BEFORE YOU HAVE A BATH

Drink one glass of water before taking a bath to help lower your blood pressure. I didn't know about this one, did you?

BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP

Drink one glass of water an hour before bedtime to replenish any fluid loss that can occur during the night.
